Mentor-Friends and HeroesIn 1971 at age 17, I fell head over heels in love with the front-cover photo of Barry Stevens on her book called Don't Push the River (It Flows by Itself). I mark that day as the day I officially began "working on myself." Don't Push the River introduced me to the work of Fritz Perls and Gestalt Therapy, which led me to bioenergetics and breath work, which led me to countless other healing modalities and spiritual disciplines over the years. Since 1971, numerous friends, mentors, healers, teachers, and heroes have influenced me and my work. I am grateful to each and every one. If I named them all, I could easily devote an entire Web site to
these special people. However, since that's not practical, I've selected
a few of my favorites to share with you here.
