End-of-Life Care: Cat works as a team with her longtime partner, John Giovine, Ph.D., to provide personalized end-of-life care and support for individuals and families in homes, hospitals, and hospice facilities in the Seattle area. One of Cat's longtime passions is working as a "death doula" with people who are close to death, helping them and their loved ones make this life transition with compassion and respect. She feels especially privileged to facilitate communication with people in comatose or other nonverbal states, so they can make their needs and wishes known directly when conventional forms of communication are no longer possible.
